2026 Medicare Advantage/Part D Enrollment Period

This is Loran, your Medicare agent.  It's here, time for the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D annual enrollment period.

The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) for Medicare runs from October 15 through December 7 each year. During this time, people who are already enrolled in Medicare can review their current Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription coverage and make changes for the following year.

This is an important opportunity to ensure your Medicare plan still fits your health needs, prescription drug requirements, and budget. Any changes made during AEP take effect on January 1 of the upcoming year.

What Can be Done During This Period

  • Switch from Original Medicare and Medicare supplement to a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C)
  • Switch from one Part D Prescription Drug Plan to another
  • Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan back to Original Medicare
  • Join a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan if you don’t already have one

You should have received a letter from your current provider explaining any changes to your plan.

If you are happy with everything, there is nothing you need to do!

There is a second period that is available only to those who are currently on a Medicare Advantage Plan

Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (OEP)
January 1 to March 31

During the Medicare Open Enrollment Period (OEP), people who are already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan have a one-time opportunity to make changes. This is a safety net for anyone who realizes the plan they chose during AEP doesn’t fit their needs.

Any change you make will start the first day of the following month.

What You CAN Do during OEP

  • Switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another (with or without drug coverage)
  • Drop a Medicare Advantage plan and return to Original Medicare
  • If returning to Original Medicare, you can also add a stand-alone Medicare Part D drug plan

What You CANNOT Do in OEP

  • Join a Medicare Advantage plan if you are not already in one
  • Make multiple changes — OEP only allows one change
  • Enroll in a Part D plan if you only have Original Medicare (unless you’re dropping a Medicare Advantage plan at the same time)

For those that need assistance during the OEP, please click the button below and choose a date and time that works for you.

If you are a husband and wife, please schedule separate appointments for each of you.

This appointment is scheduled for 1 hour, some might require less time, but I do this to ensure everyone has their needs met.
